What you are looking at here is the Cingular 3125 smartphone. What you are looking at is also ABC News. It is the ABC News on the Cingular 3125. It is called MobiTV. Finally I got it to work (see day #70 on Sunday October 27, 2006). Watching TV on the little device was an interesting experience today. You pay extra for it, but if this is important to you, it may be worth the price. Expect however that your TV will unexpectedly take a 5 to 10 second break every so often, in order to buffer up and get rolling again. Also, make sure you get the unlimited data plan; otherwise you TV bill may get expensive.
Voice recognition on the Cingular 3125
Today I trained the Cingular 3125 to recognize the voice command “Camera” and start the Camera application as a result. I also created a speed dial for one of my contacts in which I recorded a voice command so that in addition to the speed dial key, I can now alternatively use the voice command to dial this contact.
The Instant Alibi on the Cingular 3125
Well, does it happen to you that you are in a meeting of some sort, hoping to find a way out of this meeting--perhaps hoping that someone would call you and give you the opportunity to excuse yourself? The “Instant Alibi” feature does exactly that. You tell it when to call you, and it will call accordingly, and provide you with the opportunity to converse with it as you please.
This is one of many features available from Cingular as part of their Voice Connect service. Other feature include weather, news, wake up call, voice dial, and more. All these features are activated with voice commands which makes supports the “driver friendly” concept that I described earlier in the 81-day-experiment.
How about Music and the SD Card on the Cingular 3125
I tried to install the SD card today in order to download some music to the Cingular 3125. Unfortunately after going through the process of opening the back cover of the Cingular 3125 and taking the SIM card out, and then opening the tiny SD card compartment which lies below the SIM card compartment, I realized that the SD card I have does not fit into the Cingular 3125 (too large). So no music for me on the Cingular 3125 yet!
